Meanwhile the sizes vary widely, with big flat discs filling the middle and tiny ones crowding the corners. Naturally a few overlap and cast small shadows.
Stripes, Spots and Four Colours
The palette is a haberdashery drawer. Orange, sky blue, apple green and wood brown repeat throughout, since those are the colours that turn up in every button box. Some carry painted stripes, while others show white polka dots. Besides that, the finishes differ, so matte plastic sits beside a glossy disc. Above all, the mix never resolves into a pattern. Of course that randomness is exactly what makes it read as a real pile.
