Each letter is one soft moulded gummy sweet, translucent in green, amber, cherry red or clear, with glossy rounded edges. The Haribo Font lets light pass right through the letters, so they glow on dark backgrounds. Mockups run from a carry box to a black t-shirt and a book spread. One Soft Sweet Per Letter

Each glyph is a single moulded gummy, soft-edged and slightly squashed. Colours then run right through the set: green, amber, cherry red, pale yellow and clear. Surfaces stay glossy and a little tacky-looking, exactly as jelly sweets do. Meanwhile the shapes keep rounded corners and thick strokes, with no sharp joins anywhere. So the Haribo Font reads as chewy long before anyone reads the actual word.

The Haribo Font Lets Light Do the Work

Because the sweets are translucent, light passes through and lifts the colour from inside. So the Haribo Font glows on dark backgrounds rather than flattening out. Also each one carries its own highlight, which no flat colour fill can fake. Besides, the slight variation between glyphs stops repeated letters twinning. Naturally all of that works best when the type is large.

Sweet Shops, Tees and a Carry Box

One orange carry box repeats SALE down the front and side. Then a black tee shouts HAVE FUN in green, amber and red gummies. There is a yellow book cover with one huge red letter, plus a book spread reading SWEET DREAMS. In addition, a set of white posters stacks several lines of sweets. Confectionery packaging, kids branding, party invites, sweet shops and summer campaigns all suit it.

Unwrapping the Haribo Font

The OTF types straight from the keyboard, sweets and all. The download carries loose PNG letters as well, clear-backed and print-sized. Of course, Jelly Beans Font packs many small beans per letter instead of one big sweet. Besides, the Food Fonts collection keeps every other edible typeface. Set it big, since the light through each sweet is half the appeal. Chewing optional.
