Fruit Fonts – Handmade Typography Inspired by Real Fruit

Fruit Fonts are the sweetest and by some distance the most colourful shelf in the shop. Every letter is the fruit itself — a strawberry keeps its seeds and its crown, a watermelon keeps its stripes, a raspberry is assembled drupelet by drupelet. That gives them something the drawn equivalents never have: the surface is slightly wrong in the way real fruit is slightly wrong, and that is exactly what makes it read as food.

Fruit Fonts Sell Summer, Health and Sugar

Juice, smoothie and ice-cream brands take most of them, along with yoghurt, jam and cereal packaging. Farm shops, markets and organic ranges use the whole-fruit ones. Beyond food, they are a standard tool for summer campaigns, festival graphics and anything aimed at children, where a berry alphabet does more work than an illustration. They hold colour extremely well on screen, so social and display advertising suits them.

Both Formats, As Always

Each is an OpenType font you install and type with. Alongside it every character arrives as a transparent PNG at high resolution, which is how most people actually use these: one enormous strawberry capital dropped onto a packshot.
