Cable Stitches, Twisted the Hard Way

Each letter is a length of chunky wool, twisted into cables and coiled into shape. Naturally the yarn keeps its fuzz, so the edges look pressed rather than cut. Rows sit tight against each other, while the braids run diagonally across every stroke. The forms stay condensed and heavy, though, and the texture never swallows the reading. Even the ampersand and the percent sign got the same knitting treatment.

The Crimson Knit Font Only Owns One Colour

Also worth saying: this typeface commits hard to a single deep red. That shade manages warm and slightly dramatic at the same moment. So one word can read as a jumper and a warning sign together. Meanwhile the shadows between the cables supply their own darker red, at no extra effort. Besides, red on cream or black has never really let a designer down.

Wool on a Billboard, Wool on a Tote

Take the billboard: a brick wall carries the word RED across three storeys of yarn. Then a canvas tote jokes about being a bag, while a white tee wears knitted filler text. Likewise, a framed dollar sign sits propped in a sunlit living room. In addition, one curled yellow poster spells out a line about bold beginnings. Winter campaigns, craft brands, knitwear shops and Christmas packaging all take it happily.

Threading the Crimson Knit Font Into a Project

Install it as an ordinary OTF, and the wool shows up as you type. High-resolution PNG letters also come separately, each on a transparent background. For a flatter, finer stitch in a similar red, our Knitted Red Font does that instead. Meanwhile the older Knitted Font runs loose and messy, all loops and no cables. So the Crimson Knit Font stays the tidy braided one.
