Artwave Font. Letters Twisted From Rippling Grey Folds

49.00$ 34.30$

Artwave Font twists every capital like a ribbon caught halfway through a turn. Thousands of hair-fine grooves run along the folds, so the grey surface ripples as the light moves, while an acid-lime glow leaks out from inside. Naturally it also brings a set of twisted spheres, cubes and knots in the same material.

Artwave Font Catches Letters Mid-Turn

Most display faces stand still, while the Artwave Font looks stopped halfway through a rotation. Each stroke folds over itself, so one side of the counter opens as the other closes. Underneath the movement sits an ordinary alphabet, and that is why whole words still read. Of course the effect hits hardest in short, loud lines.

Fine Grooves Do the Real Work

Look closely and the surface is ruled with thousands of hair-thin lines. They follow every fold, so the grey shifts from near-black to silver as the form turns. Meanwhile a sharp acid-lime glow slips out from between the twists. Against charcoal that green reads electric, though it never swallows the letter. Because of the grain, big sizes stay interesting instead of empty.

Where the Artwave Font Belongs

Anything that needs to look loud takes the Artwave Font well. Record sleeves, club flyers and streetwear prints sit comfortably with it, since the palette is already black, grey and one green. We hung it on a gallery wall and pressed it onto tees, and it kept its edge both times. Naturally it suits title cards too, because the letters move without any animation.

Files, Plus a Few Solid Shapes

The Artwave Font arrives as a working OTF, so you type the letters straight from the keyboard. In addition, every character comes as a separate PNG on a transparent background, at high resolution. The download also carries twisted spheres, cubes and knots cut from the same material, which helps when a headline needs an object beside it. More alphabets that behave strangely wait in our Experimental Fonts collection, while MonoFold Font folds polished metal the way this one folds ribbon.
