Eggplant Font. Glossy Aubergine Bubble Letters

49.00$ 34.30$

Every capital is a single glossy aubergine bent into shape, skin waxy and almost black in the shadows, with a green spiny calyx sprouting from one end. The Eggplant Font keeps a chunky rounded bubble skeleton, so words stay open and readable despite the dark colour. Figures, currency signs and punctuation grow the same way.

Grown, Not Drawn

Indeed, each letter is a single aubergine bent into shape, skin still waxy and dark. The purple goes almost black in the shadows, then flares to a hard white highlight along the top of every stroke. Small dimples and faint streaks sit in that skin, because real vegetables are never perfectly smooth. Above all, a green calyx with its little spines sprouts from one end of most glyphs. So the whole alphabet looks picked rather than designed.

Fat Rounded Shapes With a Green Cap

The letterforms themselves are chunky and rounded, closer to a bubble sans than anything botanical. Strokes therefore keep an even thickness, and the terminals swell into soft blunt ends. Since the counters stay open and generous, words hold together even when the colour runs this dark. Figures, currency signs and punctuation likewise follow the same plump logic. Besides, the roundness keeps the type friendly rather than precious. Meanwhile the leafy caps break the line in a pleasing, slightly untidy way.

Menus, Markets and Eggplant Font Headlines

Greengrocers take this one without thinking, and so do vegan cafes, recipe books and delivery boxes. It also suits farmers market posters, seed packets, food festivals and cheerful supermarket signage. Because the letters glow against pale backgrounds, cream and mint stock flatter them most. Print it big and the shine reads from across a room too. A vegetable with a very different silhouette waits in Cucumbers Font instead. Naturally a little humour helps, and this alphabet has plenty of it.

What the Eggplant Font Gives You

A standard OTF does the typing here, so a menu can change on the morning of service. In addition, PNG letters ship separately, transparent and at high resolution, for dropping one aubergine capital onto a photograph. Our Food Fonts collection feeds the rest of the menu, though. After all, a pale ground lets the purple do the rest.
