Capitals baked as proper loaves: dough swelling where it proved, scored slashes burst open along the shoulders and pale crumb showing through the splits. A dusting of flour settles across the tops. Five loose loaves come with the set. It suits bakeries, cafes, delis, market branding and food packaging.
Loaves that came out of the oven as letters
Each capital is, of course, a proper loaf rather than a letter with crust painted on. The dough swells where it proved, so the strokes stay round and heavy. Scored slashes run along the shoulders, and each one has burst open in the heat. Pale torn crumb shows through those splits, meanwhile, against the darker outside. So a word looks like a tray straight from the bakery.
Burst crust, flour dust and a deep bake
Colour, meanwhile, runs from deep chestnut on the ridges to honey gold on the flatter faces. A dusting of flour also settles across the tops, catching the light in fine white specks. The crust turns glossy where steam hit it, though matte where the flour landed. Every loaf carries its own scoring pattern, of course. Naturally, nothing repeats from letter to letter.
