Lava Font. Cooling Rock With Molten Cracks

49.00$ 34.30$

The crust has hardened and the inside has not. Lava Font builds every letter from dark volcanic boulders, with bright orange seams running through every crack where the rock gave way. It suits metal covers, game titles, energy drinks and hot sauce labels. The set types from a single OTF and brings transparent PNG letters as well.

Lava Font Cools on the Outside Only

The crust has hardened and the inside has not. Every letter in the Lava Font is a mass of dark volcanic rock, so the surface reads matte and grey-black. Because the crust cracked as it cooled, orange seams run through the gaps in bright networks. Then the glow spills a little onto the rock around each crack. Meanwhile the boulders stay lumpy and uneven, never smoothed into a shape. Naturally the letterforms underneath are a plain bold sans, which keeps whole words legible.

Grey Rock, Orange Seams, No Compromise

Two colours carry the whole thing. The rock sits almost black in shadow, while the lit faces lift to a cool mid-grey. Since the molten orange never touches the outer silhouette, the letters keep a clean edge. The seams widen where two boulders meet, because that is where the crust gave way first. Besides that, smaller hairline cracks spread outward from there. Of course the brightest orange sits deepest, so each letter appears to glow from inside.

Heat Branding and Heavy Music

Metal covers claimed this territory long ago. Game titles, energy drinks, hot sauce labels and gym campaigns all work with it, since heat sells effort. Film posters for anything volcanic also pick it up. When a headline should feel dangerous rather than loud, this alphabet manages both. Dark backgrounds suit it best, because the orange seams read as real light. Keep the words short, though, or the texture turns into noise.

Inside the Lava Font Set

The rock arrives with the letters, because it all lives inside one OTF. Furthermore, high-resolution PNG letters come on transparent backgrounds for compositing. More rough surfaces wait in our Stone Fonts collection, if grey is the mood. The Hellrock Font takes the same heat somewhere redder and far more violent. Of course Lava Font stays the calmer, heavier of the pair.
