— Welcome on our board, Tavo. Ready to share some facts from your life with us? Of course, first we would love to know how did you choose your artistic path?
— I always liked to draw, at first I only studied business administration, I never had the courage to do something artistic in my studies, but finally I realized that I did not want to work in the world of administration, and I had the opportunity to work in a advertising agency as Art Director and I realized that this was my passion. Going to work became a hobby.
— Did typography become your one and only passion?
— I have always had a love for typography, but I have too much respect to dedicate myself to it 100%, I think it is a very complex art, in my case, I like to play with it and if i do any, it will always be closer to design or illustration field than to 100% typographical.
— And what are other graphic design directions you specialize in?
— I try all the time to work on different styles, now the most i like is illustration and digital animation.
— What was your very first challenging assignment when you stepped into the world of designers?
— I haver worked for many clients in big projects but maybe the most I liked to make is the creation of 3d golden balls for a Nike Sotre in Londres, ÒNije Town London. It is very gratifying to see your art done on the screen becoming something physical.
— What guides you when you’re working on something? Any fundamental idea or tip?
— Fun, try to make something you like in each project. If you lose fun, this wonderful work can transform into torture.
— Is there anything that you like so much that it fuels your energy? What inspires you?
— I like Contemporary Art a lot, music and overall movies, I try to go watch or get inspired by things from other fields to bring them to my world.
— And, for instance, let’s imagine a situation when you cannot get inspired and feel tired. How to move on after a phase of depression and lack of any interest to work?
— Rest and vacations, many times we do not realize what is necessary is a rest or a parenthesis in our profession, but taking a couple of sabbaticals can do wonders.
— What do you like to do when you have free time?
— I really like music and movies, and of course it influences my work, in one way or another.
— Do you know what the future holds in store for you? Any incredible plans?
— I currently have my own studio and we are very happy being selective with the projects, I do not have a great plan to conquer the world, I just want to be able to continue like this and do the best work possible.
